Bali Bhagat flags off ASHA workers to Chattisgarh on exposure visit

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today flagged off a group of over 40 ASHA workers from all districts of the State to Chattisgarh on  a week-long inter-State study visit.The visit was organized by National Health Mission (NHM) J&K.The objective of the visit is to interact and acquaint the ASHA workers with their counterparts in Chattisgarh State, which is being pioneer in the implementation of various flagship health and family welfare programme. The visit will provide an opportunity to the ASHA workers to gain exposure in the implementation of programmes and ground situation enabling them to help in performing better in Jammu and Kashmir. A special training and interactive session will also be organized for them during their visit to educate them about their role in providing timely help to the patients, especially the pregnant ladies and ensuring institutional deliveries.

The District Coordinators of National Health Mission (NHM) from all districts across the State are also accompanying.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the visit will prove quite fruitful and ASHAs, who are backbone of the rural health activities, will be able to perform more efficiently after acquiring the experience from the Chattisgarh. He said the performance of the ASHA in Jammu and Kashmir is excellent during the past some years, yet there is a scope for learning new methods of delivery, which will enhance their capabilities on ground. He stressed the need for regular such visits to hone the skills of the ground workers.Among those present on the occasion included, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Gurjeet Singh Soodan, CMO, Jammu, Dr. Robinder Khajuria, DNO, HHM, Dr. Harjeet Rai and other senior officers of health and NHM.
