Cycle rally to create road safety awareness held in Srinagar

To encourage people to move towards eco-friendly modes of transport and to create road safety awareness, a cycle rally organized by Traffic Police City Srinagar under its Civic Action Programme was held here today.As many as 350 children from various schools of Srinagar district participated in the awareness rally which was flagged-off by DIG Traffic in presence of Chairman & CEO J&K Bank, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, and representatives of Police Wives Welfare Association.The event was supported by J&K Bank, Police Wives Welfare Association, FireFox, KRSF, Hyundai, Honda, Himalayan Motors and V-Mart.During the rally, a huge cavalcade of cyclists in an extremely disciplined formation of batches rode from Traffic Police office via Dalgate, Boulevard, Lalit, Gupkar, TRC and concluded back at the Traffic Police Office City Srinagar.On the occasion, various speakers appreciated efforts put in to emphasize the safety of youth and pedestrians on the roads. The Traffic Police officials said that the Department is committed to work towards reducing rising rate of accidents and appealed people, particularly youth, to adhere to traffic rules for their own safety.Other speakers while hailing the organizers for holding the rally said that involvement of youth in any endeavor is an absolute imperative in spreading the message of safe riding. It was said that the Traffic Department shall continue to organize such events in future as well.
