Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today called an emergency meeting to take stock of arrangements for shifting of Sheep Breeding Farm, Dachigam.Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Poornima Mittal, Joint Director Sheep Husbandry Department, Chief Wild Life Warden, Deputy Director Planning, Deputy Director SRTC, Executive Engineer R&B and other concerned officers were present in the meeting. The Div Com was informed that the Revenue Department has already indentified 288 kanals of land at Khimbar in Srinagar for the shifting of Dachigam Sheep Breeding Farm.Pertinent to mention that the decision was taken for the preservation of wild life animals in the Dachigam National Park. The farm is being shifted to transit location near Kralpather, Budgam. The shifting of sheep breeding farm from Dachigam will begin from March 27.
The SRTC authorities were asked to make vehicles available to Sheep Husbandry Department for loading and unloading of sheep to the transit location.He also directed the ADC to demarcate 288 kanals of land at Khimbar within a week. The Div Com asked the R&B department to prepare a DPR for the construction of new barracks, shelter houses and other infrastructure at Khimbar and submit the same to his office within a week so that the construction work is taken in hand and completed within the stipulated time.The Div Com constituted a committee headed by ADC Srinagar The committee, whose members will include officers from Sheep Husbandry and Wild Life departments, will monitor the smooth shifting of the sheep breeding farm Dachigam in a time bound manner.
