Zero Tollerance To Corruption – Vigilance Officers To Act In Professional And Impartial Manner

A meeting of all senior Superintendents of Police, Vigilance Bureau Ranges, Flying Squad and Economic Offence Wing of Vigilance Bureau, Punjab was held under the chairmanship of Sh. B.K.Uppal, IPS, Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab. Other senior officers who were present in the meeting included; Ms. V. Neeraja, IPS, Director/Vigilance Bureau, Mr. A.S.Rai, IGP/Vigilance Bureau and Sh. Shive Kumar Verma, IPS, IGP/EOW, Vigilance Bureau. In the meeting, all cases under investigation and pending Vigilance Enquiries were discussed in detail and necessary directions were imparted to concerned officers so as to ensure efficient and speedier disposal of the pending work and suitable instructions were passed to these officers.In the meeting, the Chief Director also stressed the field officers to adhere to quality work and work hard to achieve fruitful results in anti-corruption work. Vigilance Bureau officers were asked to compile information regarding most corrupt public servants in various departments so that appropriate action could be initiated against them as per the law.  CDVB has also directed the officers to ensure that before finalizing any report, they must personally check all the documents so that no innocent public servant is harassed and also that no culprit is spared. 

CDVB also emphasized the priority of the Govt. in combating corruption in public life. Pro-active and preventive corruption strategy should be adopted by the Vigilance Bureau Units and that Vigilance Bureau should confine to mandated job and bring professionalism and transparency in their work. Reviewing the work of the Districts Units, CDVB instructed the officers to focus on achieving the targets and performance. Field officers were also asked to seek full co-operation officers of other departments. As regards complaints received on Toll Free number 1800-1800-1000 of Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, it was stressed that enquiries should be conducted in a professional and impartial manner in a stipulated time frame. It was also stressed that any complaint/allegation of corruption against any officer/official of Vigilance Bureau will not be tolerated.
