State Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) organized an Awareness Camp cum Loan Mela today at Government Middle School, Kandoli Nagrota sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC), Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.During the inauguration of the event, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sajad Ahmad Khan who was chief guest appreciated the efforts of WDC for organizing such a big camp in the area and asked the participants to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of WDC.He also said that in order to sensitize the women about the benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes for women should be implemented without any hurdles in our State. “Our State will not be developed unless and until the women sector is empowered socially as well as economically,” he added.Around 500 women beneficiaries participated in the camp in which loan application forms and pamphlets were distributed among the participants.Managing Director, WDC, Dr. Naheed Soz in her welcome address highlighted various activities and achievements of Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women.Dr. Naheed    laid thrust on the importance of jute activity and its market availability and requested the gathering to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of   WDC for their self reliance. She also spokes on the issues related to the rights of women, health, nutrition, female feticide, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, domestic violation, Swach   Bharat Abhiyan and skill development etc.The camp was attended by CDPO, Ms Syeda, Tehsildar Nagrota, Medical Officer and officers from JKEDI, WDC and Social Welfare Department.
