Speaker welcomes Rs 690 cr allocation under CCDP for Jammu; Reviews facilities for stranded passengers at Bus Stand

Reviewing the development works of Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today visited various sites for ongoing works in the area.The Speaker during his visit, inspected the progress on Bikram Chowk flyover, drainage works at Gadhi Garh, Gangyal and Jeevan Nagar upto Balol Nallah, bridge at Bandurakh among others.The Speaker took detailed account regarding the completion of all these projects and interacted with the locals and enquired about difficulties faced by them due to these works.The locals expressed their gratitude for taking up these projects in their area and assured of their full support and cooperation to the executing agencies.The Speaker informed that most of these projects will be completed by the mid of this year and it is going to improve the quality of life of the local populace enormously.The Speaker also expressed his gratitude to the government for sanctioning an amount of Rs  690 crore under CCDP for Jammu district along with an additionality of Rs 6.5 crore for 11 Assembly Constituencies.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the State of J&K is altogether witnessing a new era of developmental activities and it is going to uplift the living standards of the people of the state.He also welcomed the recent announcement of the Chief Minister for allowing departmental works Rs 3 lakh without tenders as demanded by the MLAs. He said this step will expedite the day to day demands of the people and will give a sigh of relief to them by getting the small works like repairs of lane and drains completed without any delay.He was accompanied by the SDM, South, Sonu Pargal, BDO Satwari, A K Khajuria along with officers of PWD (R&B), ERA and Rural Development Department.Later the Speaker visited the Jammu Bus Stand to interact with stranded passengers due to closure of Jammu- Srinagar National Highway, other major highways following continuous rain and heavy snowfall in various parts of the State and took stock of various arrangements put in place by the district administration for them.The Speaker interacted with the stranded passengers and assured them of government’s full support to them. He also distributed langar (free kitchen) to the passengers.
