Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the initiatives undertaken in education sector would ensure that students especially those living in far flung and remote areas are provided with quality avenues, so that they can contribute in the development of the state and the country.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized in connection with the inauguration of additional classrooms in Government High School Mela in Billawar constituency of Kathua district.“Students need to take help of the modern technology in order to make education, learning process simpler and easy to grasp,” he said and added that the youth is the future and onus lies on us to provide them with quality facilities in education and sports so that they can bring laurels to the country and the state.He said Prime Minister has also undertaken special initiatives to introduce newer technologies in education sector in order to make learning process easier for students.He said since the Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over, he has been effectively ensuring that education sector of the country gets requisite boost with special focus on rural and far flung areas of the country.“The Government is committed to improve standards of education in the State. In order to achieve this objective, the Government has launched various educational schemes and scholarship programmes for welfare of talented youth”, he said. 

The Deputy Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs 5 crore has been spent on education sector in Billawar constituency and an additional amount of Rs 9.36 crore is being spent. He said  under DDUGJY, the power infra in rural areas would be improved besides also connecting various un-electrified areas; and an amount of Rs 619 crore has been earmarked under the scheme for the state.Dr Singh also inspected the pace of work on community centre being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh and directed the officers of RDD to ensure its timely completion.Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated work on construction of culvert at Bhaiya Link Road of Hiranagar Tehsil and announced Rs 20 lakh for a community hall out of his Constituency Development Fund for the area. He also directed for taking up work for lanes and drains in the area under convergence.He also kick-started work on various roads in the area which include Rs 18.14 crore 3.3 km  Parangoli to Sounkhal road and Chilikh to Nouni road under PMGSY, which would provide connectivity to major areas.While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that these roads are the medium by which connectivity and economic profile of the area gets lifted. He said that connectivity also ensures that people get requisite government services besides getting access to outside products, information and social linkages.
