DDC Bandipora kick-starts Chinar plantation drive

District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, today kickstarted Chinar plantation drive in the district by planting 10 saplings at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kaloosa and Government High School Qazipora.The drive was organized by the Floriculture Department in collaboration with Education Department, which was also attended by a good number of NCC cadets.It was said that the Department of Floriculture shall plant 100 Chinar saplings at different schools and other Government institutions across the district during the plantation drive. Further the Department will provide Chinar saplings free of cost to the people to help improve green cover in the district.Besides, medicinal and herbal plants will be provided to various schools across the district. On the occasion the DDC stressed the officers to make concerted efforts to ensure hassle free plantation drive and called for creating mass awareness among the students and masses through seminars and other related activities on the importance of planting more and more trees.
