In an endeavor to raise awareness for kidney related diseases and its importance on overall health, Manipal Hospitals Bangalore unveiled a campaign to champion the cause. In line with this year’s global theme, ‘Kidney disease and Obesity’ with a motto to follow ‘healthy lifestyle for healthy kidneys’. Theatre & Bollywood Actress Ms. Konkana Sen along with Ms. Malini Krishnamoorthy, IPS Additional Commissioner of Police , Bengaluru flagged off the campaign. The event was also attended by kidney transplant patients who shared their experiences of receiving a second chance to life.Obesity is a growing worldwide epidemic and a significant risk factor for chronic kidney disease. This year World Kidney Day promotes education about the harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney disease. Hence, as a part of the campaign, Manipal Hospitals launched various packages for the benefit of kidney patients. 100 free consultations for patients with BMI above 30 was announced and free kidney screening for the Karnataka Police Force will also be facilitated. Additionally, preventive care and precautions needed for kidney health will be spread across the country.
