More than 200 students participate in EAP at Women’s College Gandhi Nagar

JKEDI continues entrepreneurship drive in degree colleges

The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Tuesday continued its special Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) drive for the students of Government Degree Colleges of the State.The second awareness program was conducted today in Women’s College Gandhi Nagar here for the final year students. The program was intended to provide an insight into the world of entrepreneurship to the participating students. More than 200 students of the college participated in the awareness program.The EAP was part of the special series of awareness programs being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute on the instructions of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti who has listed the entrepreneurship development and self employment among the top priorities of the Government.

The Chief Minister had earlier stressed on a more proactive role for Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship development in the State.The Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs are in league with the Chief Minister’s resolve to reach out to the talented youth of Jammu and Kashmir and provide them a platform where they can succeed collectively.In these Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAPs) the students are being acquainted with the realities of labour market in the State along with the scope of entrepreneurship development/self employment in various sectors of the State economy. An interaction with the local successful entrepreneurs is also part of these awareness programs to act as motivators.

The EAPs are also structured to create awareness among the youth about different Government schemes for entrepreneurship development and network the eligible candidates with the concerned departments for coverage after proper registration and screening.The awareness programs are being conducted by a specialized team constituted by the Institute for the purpose. Experts from the J&K Bank and Department of Industries and Commerce, J&K Government are also part of the awareness team.The Department of Higher Education, J&K Government has welcomed the initiative and offered all possible support to the Institute so as to reach out to the ever increasing number of students passing out every year from the Degree Colleges of the State. The EAPs are scheduled to be held in all the degree colleges of the State over a period of next two months.
