Governor N.N. Vohra, who is the Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), presented two Ambulances to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is Vice- President of the Indian Red Cross Society-J&K. As per a prior commitment, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has presented these Ambulances to the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, for their use by the Kashmir and Jammu Regional Branches.Governor, who is also the President, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, lauded the role of the Society, in providing emergency help and valuable support to the people in distress. Governor appealed for sustained support being provided by public and private organizations to enable Red Cross to enhance the scale of its activities. Governor also called for much larger participation of people at all levels to make Red Cross activities more meaningful. He hoped that with the addition of these Ambulances, the Indian Red Cross Society, would be able to enhance its assistance to the people requiring urgent medical attention in the less connected areas.Governor asked Sh. M. S. Rather, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, to ensure that these Ambulances are effectively utilised for rendering services in close collaboration with Medical Colleges and Government Hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar cities. 

He directed that the actual utilisation of these Ambulances should be monitored to ensure their optimum use. Sh. Rather informed that these Ambulances will also be utilised for attending to sick and injured pilgrims during the period of Shri Amarnathji Yatra.Chief Minister Ms. Mufti thanked the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and appreciated its collaboration with the Red Cross.Sh. P. K.Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board stated that the Shrine Board is striving to make its contribution, even if it is not very large, for supporting and assisting the valuable work being done by certain institutions, particularly those active in the field of education, health care, disability, promotion of art and culture, etc.Those present on the occasion included Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister; Sh. B.R. Sharma, Chief Secretary; Sh. B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister; Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP; Sh. P. K.Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Governor and Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board; Sh. Raj Kumar Goyal, Principal Secretary Home; Sh. Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Executive, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Office; Sh. R. C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.
