Labourers accuse NHPC of depriving them from bonus

Scores of labourers of Uri Civil Friday staged protest demonstration against the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) for not releasing bonus to them.The protesting labourers from Uri Baramulla led by Liyaqat Ali Khan, Sareer Khan and Farooq Mir assembled at Childrens Park Boniyar and alleged that despite assurance the Company deprived majority of the labourers from bonus.Shouting slogans against the NHPC and their own Union they said that they approached Industrial Tribunal Labour Council court that directed the compnay to release entire bonus among the employees who worked for the company. However, according to the protesters the company corrupted some of their Union leaders and got the list published that only carries the names of 1719 employees while the total number of labour force is above 7000. “We were the part of the project and must not be ignored,” the protesters told CNS.The protesters said that they have asked all the left out labourers to submit their documents till March 10.The protesters said that it is irony that they have been ignored though court awarded the verdict in their favour. “We brought the issue into the notice of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, but nothing changed on the ground. We appeal Chief Minister to look into the matter and do justice to us,” they said. (CNS)
