Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S P Vaid today said Police Headquarter (PHQ) needs to play a parental role to ease problems of personnel performing their duties in different regions of the State.The DGP said this while chairing a senior officers meeting held here at PHQ, which was attended by ADGP (Headquarters), Mr. VK Singh, Inspectors General of Police, Mr. SL Sharma, JP Singh and SK Gupta.Dr. Vaid said Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP) is a big family where PHQ being the head of the family needs to take care of its personnel delivering their professional duties in all kind of circumstances, and weather situations across the State. He said for enhancing the capabilities of personnel various issues related to the improvement needs to be revisited every now and then.The DGP disclosed that new ideas are required in dealing with administrative matters that benefit the personnel working in field. “Transparency and quality in our daily working needs to be discussed at different levels to enhance basic amenities for the personnel,” the DGP said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vaid emphasized on officers to do a thorough research on latest policing methods and formulate a comprehensive policy in this regard. He also stressed for introducing new measures to bring improvement in the working of JKP. He said that in present age the focus of department should be to introduce and adopt new technologies with latest techniques to ease the problems of our personnel, who remain busy in performing their professional duties at various levels in different environments. We have to work together for career development and attitudinal improvement of the force, he added.Steps to develop a comprehensive system to introduce new technologies and ideas, improving the work and attitude of the personnel were also discussed during the meeting.
Discussing role of JKP in crime detection, especially drug menace, it was stressed that various measures need to be introduced to bring improvements in crime investigation, besides, adapting latest methods for result oriented investigations.DGP stressed to organize lectures and workshops especially in police training institutions for use of new methods in curbing the drug menace which is on rise in the society and is endangering life of our youth. He said drug abuse is major concern for JKP and all investigating agencies have to sit together and formulate a policy which could pay good dividends in the field. He added best practices and ideas needs to be researched, besides identifying resource person for conducting such workshops.Dr. Vaid stressed that social crimes are also posing a challenge to the investigators and it has become imperative to acquaint the investigating officers with the modern techniques for bringing the crimes to a logical end. He also asked for developing an effective system to gauge the acts of trouble makers by creating hatred among different sections of society.
The DGP said that time bound completion of projects under modernization programme should be ensured by the supervisors to harness the benefits of such projects of the organization. He said that a congenial atmosphere within the department is imperative for enhancing the capabilities of our personnel in different fields of policing and the supervisory officers have to maintain liaison within rank and file in the organization.Director Prosecution, Pawan Gupta, AIsGP, Rahul Malik, JL Koul, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Mubassir Latifi, Sameer Rekhi and Kulbir Singh, JDP, Gowhar Hussain Mir, Sr. ADO Nasir Khan, SP, Gulzar Ahmed, DDB, Munesh Dutta, CAO, Ms. Naila Zahoor and other police officers were present in the meeting.
