Clashes, Shutdown and protest disrupt life in Pulwama

Several protesters and policemen were wounded after clashes broke out in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.Reports said that amid clashes Pulwama town observed a strike against the arrest of a 26-year-old shopkeeper allegedly involved in stone-pelting incidents.All shops and business establishments in the town, remained shut while public and private transport remained off the roads after the news of the youth's arrest spread.Witnesses told CNS that clashes broke out between protesters and government forces while agitated youth who demanded the release of the youth Bilal Ahmed of Washbugh Pulwama pelted stones on deployed policemen and CRPF at different places of town including Muran Chowk, Rajpora, Chowk, Dangarpora and Pirchoo. Witnesses added that several policemen and protesters were injured during these clashes. Government Forces used tear-smoke shells to disperse the protesters.Locals alleged that Para-military Central Reserve Police Forces ransacked houses and damaged the parked vehicles and property, a claimed refuted by police.Locals added that four youths including a driver from Rohmu area were also picked up by police.
