Training programme on water management commences

District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar today inaugurated two-day long training programme on the theme “Water Management” at DC Complex, Reasi.The training programme is being organized by Central Ground Water Board on the initiative of Ministry of Water Resource, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Jammu with an objective of imparting training to teachers, engineers, block and district level officers regarding water management.While addressing the gathering, the DDC advised the participants for incorporating all techniques to conserve water resources in their areas and also create awareness about such techniques.Earlier, Scientist “D” and Nodal Officer for the Board  ‘D’ J. N. Bhat highlighted the overall ground water scenario of the State and stressed on scientific techniques to be adopted to protect ground water resources.During the programme, lectures were also delivered on basics of hydro geology of ground water, water management, hydro geology condition, ground water quality, hydro geological problems, water pollution and its impacts on human health.The resource persons would also divulge on watershed management, GIS and remote sensing and its applications in ground water management, water conservation, quantification of ground water, geo-physical techniques in ground water management, rain water harvesting and artificial recharge of ground water.Other present on the occasion included Chief Agriculture Officer, scientists and various district officers.
