Naeem Akhtar felicitates ISRO scientists for creating history

Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar has felicitated the scientists of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for creating history with the launch of a record number 104 satellites in one go.Mr Akhtar specially congratulated ISRO chairman A S Kiran Kumar and Director, ISRO Satellite Centre Mayilsamy Annadurai for this ground-breaking achievement. “It is indeed a great moment for ISRO especially as the technology for the launch has been developed by the ISRO scientists indigenously,” he said.The Minister said that such scientific feats should inspire the students, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, to tread into new areas of science like Astrophysics and Satellite Technology. He said ISRO is already helping the State Government to make the EDUSATs functional in all the colleges of J&K and link these institutions with latest educational facilities around the country and the world.Mr Akhtar said to inculcate scientific temper among the students, the State Government has decided to build-up SP College Srinagar and GGM Science College Jammu as institutions of excellence in science teaching as affiliate colleges of the new Cluster Universities. “We want our students to take up science subjects not just for jobs, but in pursuit of research to make a mark in the scientific world,” he said and added that the Government is also in the process of building infrastructure in college laboratories to provide best avenues for science teaching.Mr Akhtar said the State is gifted with best talent in science teaching and the students should take advantage of the available resources to make their careers in advanced technological and scientific fields.
