At least nine persons including a woman were injured in alleged forces action in Pulwama town even as authorities on Wednesday foiled “Kulgam Challo” march by imposing curfew-like restrictions in parts of south Kashmir.The march was called by joint resistance group to express solidarity with the civilians killed on February 12 during and after encounter between militants and forces.Majority of roads leading to Kulgam were sealed with barbed wire and large number of police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength to prevent any procession and violence.The District Magistrate, Kulgam, had imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC to prevent any assembly of people on the fourth day Fateha of civilians and militants following “Kulgam Challo” call.“We have received nine persons at district hospital Pulwama and they had different injuries due to beating, stones and teargas shells,” medical superintendent of Pulwama district hospital told GNS.At Pulwama town, four persons were arrested by police for their alleged involvement in stone pelting clashes in the area.A police official identified the arrested persons as Asif Rather S/o Mushtaq R/o Nikas Pulwama, Faisl s/o Feroz Ganie, Shangerpora Pulwama and Ali Dar Abdul Gani r/o Kangan.Following their arrest, locals at Jamia Masjid Pulwama warned massive protests in case all the four persons were not be released.Meanwhile, a PDP worker Ghulam Mohamad of Dangerpora Pulwama alleged that his vehicle was damaged and his wife and son beaten by paramilitary CRPF and police. “I’m a senior PDP worker and participate in elections. Did I vote for this? The police and CRPF beat up and damaged vehicles without any provocation,” he told GNS. Dozens of other vehicles were also damaged by the forces including CRPF and police.
