Giving fillip to various development works initiatives in Basholi constituency, Minister of Forest, Environment and Ecology Chaudhary Lal Singh today laid foundation of several link roads and lanes at Panchayat Basantpur and Thein under MGNREGA and convergence with 14th FC.Ravi Kesar Chairman PCB, CCF Jammu Roshan Jaggi, Director Social Forestry Ashwini Gupta, Director FPF Asif Mahmood, Director Remote Sensing O P Sharma, Joint Director SFRI B M Sharma, Joint Director Soil & Water Conservation Pawan Kudyar, ACR, ACD, CEO, XENs, BDO, DFOs besides HODs of several other wings of forest department and district officers were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Chaudhary Lal Singh said that development is a continuous process and it requires synergy between people and the authorities. Minister laid stress on creating durable rural assets so that benefits can be provided to the maximum populace. He further said that to bring about a radical change in society, education and economic empowerment are two areas which need maximum thrust.

At GMS Kuthelar, Zone Lakhanpur of Kathua, Lal Singh directed CEO Kathua to construct compound wall, additional classrooms and renovation of existing infrastructure. The Minister interacted with the students and inquired about various facilities being provided to them and told them to pay equal attention to studies as well as sports.At Govt. High School Basantpur, the minister assured that a Higher Secondary school will be established in a nearby area so that maximum number of students will be benefitted. He further said that education is the only means to bring about a visible change in one`s life. “Education not only improves the personality but also the economic condition of a family,” he added.Stressing about the need of maintaining cleanliness in schools and other public places, Lal Singh said the Government is providing financial assistance to the deserving families for constructing toilets in their house so that the villages can get rid of the menace of open defecation.While inspecting the lanes of various villages of Panchayat Basantpur and Thein, Minister asked the villagers to take care of public assets being developed for them so that they can be used for longer duration. He further said that not only development but maintaining ecological balance is also the responsibility of every stakeholder and urged the villagers to plant maximum number of trees during rainy 

season for ecological balance.
