Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Asiya Andrabi was arrested from her residence in Soura area of Srinagar on Monday.Party General Secretary Nahida Nasreen told CNS that a police party arrived at Andrabi’s residential house and bundled her in a police vehicle and lodged in Rambagh police station. She added that Sofi Fehmeeda, a close confidant of Asiya Andrabi was also arrested by police. She said that Asiya Andrabi was under house arrest since December 21 last year.
“Last year she had been arrested on 4 October and was released on 21 December from Sub-Jail Baramulla. However, on the same day she was put under house arrest,” Nasreen said and added that Asiya Andrabi is an asthma patient who requires medical care.While condemning the action of the government, party General Secretary said that such action only depict the frustration and defeat of Indian security establishment in Kashmir.
