Netherlands has offered technical support to the Jammu and Kashmir Government to increase productivity and improve quality of the cherry fruit crop in the State.This was conveyed by the visiting horticulture experts from Netherlands, Jan Lindman and Hans Florain to the Secretary Horticulture, M H Malik during a meeting here last evening. Director Horticulture Kashmir and other officers of the Department were also present at the meeting.The experts from Netherlands offered to transfer the latest technology along with the improved germ plasm of cherry fruit crop to J&K where, they said, the climatic conditions are conducive for growing quality cherries.The Secretary Horticulture told the delegates that the Department would be more than eager to seek technical support from Netherlands for development and expansion of horticulture sector in the state.Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with the Fruit Growers Association of Kashmir Valley in the Directorate of horticulture Kashmir, several issues were discussed in connection with the establishment of High Density orchards.During the course of meeting other allied problems with regard to the upgradation of infrastructure in the Fruit Mandis were discussed with particular reference to Parimpora, Sopore, Chrar-e-Sharief, Kulgam and Ganderbal etc.The Secretary Horticulture   assured all possible help and cooperation to the farming community for the development of horticulture sector in the State.
