Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Wednesday asked the security agencies in India and abroad to coordinate to combat terrorism."Terrorism is a global threat and the footprint of terrorism does not restrict itself to any border. There should, thereafore, be proper coordination between the agencies within the country, as well as between different countries because terrorists take advantage of an element of surprise if we live in isolation," Rathore said. He was speaking at the 17th international counter-terrorism seminar organised by the National Security Guard (NSG). The seminar was attended by 40 delegates from 12 countries like the US, the UK, Russia, Thailand, Canada and Australia. In the wake of 300 Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosions reported in 2016 across the world, Rathore laid stress on focus on the menace.
He said the outcome of the seminar should be shared among different agencies to develop intelligence and use the knowledge for safety and security of people. The minister asked the agencies to collaborate by sharing intelligence, strategy and technology inputs. He also appreciated the Home and Defence Ministries for keeping pace with other countries in terms of modernising the defence and paramilitary forces. On the occasion, Rathore also unveiled the NSG's annual magazine 'The Bombshell', which contains details of various IED explosions that occurred in various parts of the world in 2016.Earlier, he inaugurated Niranjan Auditorium in memory of Lt Col. Niranjan Kumar, who laid down his life during the January 2, 2016, Pathankot airbase attack.
