Chandigarh Group of Colleges  Jhanjeri organized Shaheed Samman Samaroh in the college. Brig. Kuldip singh Chandpuri was the chief Guest of the function. During the function some of the young army officers and other ranks of Indian Army who laid down their life for the sake of our country were honored. Brig. Chandpuri recalled how brave officers like Major Harminder Pal Singh, Capt. Davinder Pal Singh, Sub. Kuldip Singh, Hav. Bikram Singh and Sepoy Sukhpreet Singh fought gallantly till their last breath with the determination of defeating the enemy. Mr. Chandpuri shared his personal experience of how, in 1971, he fought with just 120 persons at Longewala post in Rajasthan sector against Pakistan’s 60 tanks and 3000 persons. He explained how the army persons work in extremely odd weather and difficult conditions. He appealed to all civilians to extend full support to the efforts of these persons.
Speaking on the occasion,  Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC praised the jawans of Indian Armed Forces working for the security of our borders and safety of the Indians living in cities and villages. He presented cheques of Rs. 5100/- to the family members to each of the brave soldiers who laid down their life for the welfare of the society. Dr. G. D. Bansal, Director General said that the students of CGC are highly motivated towards joining Indian Army.
