Minister for Youth Services, Sports and Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, today announced that the government will soon launch Youth Parliament in Jammu and Kashmir with the objective to bridge the gap between the youth of three regions.
Terming it a big step towards youth emancipation, the Minister said that the forum will create a history – as it would be the first forum where the State’s youth can debate and engage in a meaningful dialogue. The initiative would further cement bonding among the youth of all regions of the state besides providing an opportunity to them voice their concerns regarding the issues of younger generation, he added.“The aim of the youth parliament in our State is to provide the platform to the youth where they can express and raise their issues,” Ansari said while underlining the fact that the absence of such platforms in past created an undesirable situation.
The Minister was speaking during a meeting with the National Youth awardees in Jammu. While hailing their achievements, he assured them full support from the government.“There was a time in the State when youth had no space and meaningful engagement to have their say or to showcase their talents,” theMinister said adding that “the present alliance is duty-bound to undo the legacy of its predecessors by working for the youth welfare.”The Minister also said that youth are only persons in the State who can make best use of state and centrally-sponsored schemes by working at ground level and take the schemes to the poor and marginalized sections of the society.Ansari said the Youth Services Department is meant for channelizing the youth towards right path and promote social activities performed by the youth for the welfare of the State.The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Sports, Sunil Sharma, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Wahid Parra, National Youth awardees and other concerned officers of the department.
