BJP’s star campaigner and Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday held public meetings in support of Akali-BJP candidates in Punjab and said that anti-social elements want to take over Punjab. She said that the coalition government had established peace in the state and nobody had the right to disrupt it. The people of Punjab will never entertain such anti-social elements. Addressing a poll gathering at Hajipur Irani exuded confidence that the electorate would again choose the coalition government. Irani campaigned for Mukerian candidate Arunesh Shakar and Dasuya candidate Sukhjit Kaur Sahi.

Meanwhile, BJP national vice-president and chairman of BJP election campaign committee Avinash Rai Khanna toured almost a dozen villages throughout the day and sought votes for Dasuya candidate Sukhjit Kaur Sahi.  Khanna made the voters aware of the developmental works carried out by the Centre government and the Akali-BJP coalition government. State party president Vijay Sampla also canvassed for coalition candidate from Hargobindpura, Manjit Singh Mana and Bholath candidate Bhupinder Singh on Wednesday. Sampla appealed that in order to continue the pace of development and maintain peace and harmony in the state, the people should vote for the coalition.
