State Social Welfare Board (SSWB) in collaboration with ‘Rehai’ (an NGO) today organised an awareness programme regarding welfare of animals and promotion of plant based products.The aim for this programme is to build awareness among the NGOs and people of the state regarding rights of animals.While speaking on the occasion, Chairperson JKSSWB, Nirmal Gupta said that everyone should pledge for the freedom of animals and protection of their rights. She added that we should accord equal care n concern towards animals as they too are an integral part of our lives which cater to out routine requirements in respect of food and other life necessities.Highlighting the importance of plant based products, the Chairperson maintained that these products are economical and also beneficial for our health. She said that production of plant products like soya milk can be adopted as alluring income generating units.Nirmal Gupta stressed the organisation to conduct these types of activities in schools and colleges to provide a broad perspective on animal protection including the effects of human activities on the environment.President of NGO, Malvika Kalra on the occasion gave a detailed account of activities of the organization.Among others who were present on the occasion includes Executive Director, JKSSWB, Shahid Mehmood, representatives of various NGOs and staff of the Board.
