In view of the coming assembly elections on 4th February, to keep a close watch on election campaign being run through social media (Facebook, Twitter & Youtube etc.) 8 students from Chandigarh University Gharuan deputed as volunteer observers. These volunteer observers will report directly to Election Expenditure observer for any kind of unapproved election campaign being run by the contesting candidates on social media, so that strict implementation of model code of conduct could be ensured. This was stated by Election Expenditure Observer Sh. Jyotiraditya while he was conducting a meeting with volunteer student observers at district administrative complex.Sh. Jyotiraditya said that student volunteer observers will keep a close watch on election campaign being run by party leader or party workers through social media and will report the same. He said that these student observers will assist the election commission for monitoring the election process.Sh. Jyotiraditya said that any party leader or party worker is not authorized to publish any kind of election campaign related material like poster, advertisement, video, audio, comment & URL links etc. without the pre approval of Media Certification & Monitoring Committee. He said that citizens could approach him at room no. 414, third floor at district administrative complex SAS Nagar regarding any kind of election related complaint/ suggestion.
