Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan and Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari today jointly took stock of post-snowfall scenario in Kashmir Division and directed the officers to utilize all resources to provide relief to people.The Ministers stated this at a meeting held here today to review the post-snowfall situation in Kashmir Valley. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of various valley districts, Director Health, Chief Engineers of R&B, PDD, and PHE, Director FCS&CA, GM SRTC and other concerned attended the meeting.They lauded the work done by various Departments in dealing with post-snowfall scenario and in alleviating sufferings of people during the inclement weather. The Ministers directed the officials to ensure adequate supply of electricity and drinking water, health services and supply of essentials in the valley.On the occasion, Abdul Haq said that essential supplies were restored on war-footing basis with the efforts of concerned officials within the shortest possible time.The meeting was informed that out of 7363 kms of road length affected by snowfall, 7164 kms of roads have been cleared by machines and manual work. As of now all major roads connecting district headquarters and essential services are fully operational.Regarding power situation, the Chief Engineer PDD informed that out of total requirement of 1172 MW of electricity, 1161 MWs are being supplied. Electric transformers damaged due to snowfall are being repaired and will be installed at required places at the earliest.The Ministers were briefed that adequate stock of ration is available in the Division. It was said that one lakh LPG cylinders have reached Valley on Monday which will be distributed to people within 24 hours. Speaking on the occasion, Basharat Bukhari said that Government is committed to rehabilitate people affected due to the snowfall and directed the officers to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential services to people, especially to people of remote areas.  He also directed DC Kupwara to release ex-gratia relief to landslide victims at the earliest. He also reviewed the stock position of cancer drugs in all hospitals.During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners presented the latest situation and measures taken to address various issues related to restoration works after heavy snowfall and rains in their respective districts.
