DC Srinagar reviews sanitation, dewatering measures

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today reviewed sanitation and dewatering measures underway in water logged areas of Srinagar city.Senior officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, UEED, Mechanical Engineering, Fire and Emergency Services and other concerned accompanied the DC.It was given out that SMC has deployed28 mobile dewatering pumps especially for waterlogging-prone areas like Samandarbagh, Bakshi Stadium, Iqbalabad, Tatoo Ground, Rathpora, Barthana, Qamarwari, Gurdawara Barthana, Hajiabad Bemina, Kreshbal, Mahjoor Nagar (Rahim Bagh) and other areas.Similarly, Fire and Emergency Services deployed tenders at Moominabad, Humhama and JVC Bemina for dewatering purposes, while as 80 permanent dewatering pump stations are working round the clock.On the occasion, the DC directed officers to continue the dewatering process in the affected areas, so that people do not face any difficulty.He also reviewed sanitation and solid waste management measures and directed Chief Sanitation Officer to ensure collection of garbage from all areas of the City and also from the embankments of River Jhelum and spill channels.Later, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed progress on Srinagar Smart City Proposal. He was informed that draft proposal for Smart City has been uploaded on website www.mygov.in and citizens have been asked to provide their valuable feedback and suggestions so that final refined proposal is prepared.
