Pulse Polio Immunization campaign begins across Jammu

The Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) was today launched across Jammu in which thousands of children under the age of 5 years were administered polio drops at pulse polio centres being set up by the administration at various locations in Jammu division.At Udhampur, District Development Commissioner Niraj Kumar today launched the first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization programme at District Hospital here this morning.The programme was organized by District Health Society Udhampur with an aim to provide two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to all the children of 0 to 5 years in the district. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC informed that a total of 88381 children of 0 to 5 years have been identified in the district and in order to cover all the children of district, about 527 polio booths have been established. Besides this, 12 transit camps and 12 mobile vehicles have also been deployed for ensuring 100% immunization.At Doda, District Development Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Kumar inaugurated pulse polio immunization Programme round 1st today at Old District Hospital Doda.

DDC administered the process of polio drops immunization to the children and also distributed sweets among them.CMO Doda apprised the Deputy Commissioner that there are about 76104 children in the target age group of 0-5 years, for which 517 IPPI Booths have been established in the District.He further informed that about 2068 vaccinators from health/education and ICDS department have been deployed to administer polio drops, besides 103 supervisors from health department each supervising 5 PPI Booths have also been deployed for the purpose.At Poonch, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashraf Chowdhury in presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nayaz Chowdhury today launched three day pulse polio immunization drive by administering Oral Polio Vaccine to a infant baby at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch.CMO Poonch informed that Oral Polio Vaccine will be administered in as many as 415 booths set up for vaccination in  the  district   and 1660 workers have been deputed to these established  booths besides 88 supervisors to  supervise these  booths.

He further added that the drive will also continue in the form of house to house visits by the field-level health functionaries to cover the targeted figure.At Reasi, District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar launched the pulse polio programme by administering drops to the children at new district hospital Reasi here today.Later, District Development Commissioner also visited some booths set up in the interior of the town to take stock of the arrangements made by the health department.It was informed that about 59170 children are being covered in the first round of pulse polio campaign through 364 booths with the assistance of 1456 booth members, 69 supervisors, 18 transit teams and 12 mobile teams.At Ramban, a total of 55721 children were covered out of 65163 under first round of pulse polio campaign which was launched by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Angrez Singh Rana here today.In all the four blocks 17850 covered in Batote, 9373 in Gool, 11730 in Banihal, 16768 in Ukhral.
