Several deputations meet Chief Minister

Mehbooba for factoring in needs of physically challenged while framing plans, policies

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today stressed on factoring in the needs and requirements of physically challenged persons while framing the policies and plans for various sections of society.Interacting with a deputation of physically challenged persons who had come to meet her under the auspices of J&K Handicapped Association, the Chief Minister said her Government is keen to improve the situation of physically challenged persons by giving them more amenities and bringing down their difficulty levels in life particularly in studies, jobs and other social interactions.The deputation sought operationalization of Disability Commission, check on the grants to various NGOs to see if the funds have been spent on the target groups, introduction of Braille system in the State, covering physically challenged under BPL category and bringing them under insurance cover.The Chief Minister assured to get the issues raised by them examined by the Government.

Several other deputations also met the Chief Minister. They brought their demands into her notice and sought their immediate redressal.A deputation of traders from Poonch sought their involvement in the trading at Chakkan da Bagh trade centre. They also sought rationalisation of trade activities at the Trade Centre.A deputation from Reasi led by Karnail Singh brought several developmental issues of the district into the notice of the Chief Minister and sought their redressal. Another deputation from Assar also sought attention of the Chief Minister in pacing up the developmental activity in Doda district.A deputation of contractors of JKTDC demanded release of payments for works already done.

A deputation of Physical Education graduates demanded opening of more job opportunities for them. A deputation of field workers engaged under MGNREGA demanded rationalisation of their services.Deputations from many areas of Anantnag also met the Chief Minister today. These included deputations from Kihearbal, Janglat Mandi, Ashajipora, Dialgam and other places.The deputations demanded augmentation of Martand canal, establishment of fruit mandi at Kihearbal, flood relief to the shopkeepers of Anantnag town, upgradation of facilities at Mattan hospital and setting up of a Sheep centre at Sirigufwara.Mehbooba Mufti assured the deputationists that their genuine demands would be looked into by the Government and commensurate action would be taken at the earliest.
