DC reviews preparation of ‘Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign’

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone today convened a meeting to review preparedness regarding Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign to be held from January 30 to February 13.The meeting discussed threadbare various aspects regarding the Sparsh Leprosy and it was given out that Union Health Ministry has decided to organize a massive awareness campaign nationwide on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which is on January 30  aimed to intensify leprosy detection campaign to curb the crippling disease.

The meeting also informed that around 500 workers will participate in the campaign to carry forward the message to control the disease.Asking the officers to make the awareness programme a success, DC directed them to involve more workers, if needed. He also appealed the people to cooperate in this Leprosy eradication awareness and survey campaign.The meeting was attended by CMO, Srinagar, and Medical Officers from different zones and blocks, officials from Leprosy Hospital, ASHA coordinators from different blocks and other concerned.
