In state Assembly on Monday NC MLA’s were left red faced when at the start of the proceedings, MLA Langate, Er. Rasheed lashed out at NC and PDP for their double standards and asked both the parties to come clean over the role of Maharaja Hari Singh in the history of state. Engineer Rasheed said that it is unfortunate while NC has been exploiting people of state since 1947 to get dividends of late Sheikh Sahab’s fight against Maharaja, Omer Abdullah as Chief Minister raised a memorial of Maharaja in Jammu city and now the party senior leader Davinder Rana has openly came out in support of the resolution.Davinder Rana went a step ahaed and demanded that the sentiments of Dogra’s should be respected. Amid heated arguments NC members including Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mohammad Akbar Lone gave clarification that views expressed by Rana were his personal but they couldn’t respond to Er. Rasheed’s argument that why Omer Abdullah raised a memorial of Maharaja in 2014.Er. Rasheed asked NC that Omer Abdullah and Davinder Rana should apologize publically. Er. Rasheed questioned that how can those killed at the hands of Maharaja be the martyrs and Maharaja also the hero at the same time.
Amid heated arguments with BJP members, Er. Rasheed asked BJP to clear it’s stand that why don’t they attend the martyrs day function on 13th July every year.Er. Rasheed asked PDP also to explain that if BJP doesn’t offer homage to 13th July Martyrs what is left further behind to insult those martyrs. Er. Rasheed condemned New Delhi for not fulfilling its commitment to compensate losses, the state has suffered due to Indus Water Treaty. He said that it is shameful when Narindra Modi has to abuse Pakistan, he threatens to abandon Indus Water Treaty. Has Modi and others been so sincere to people of J&K they should answer why do they talk about Indus Water Treaty only when they have some issues with Pakistan and said that Govt. of India knows well that it is not so easy to break the bilateral universally accepted agreements and rather befooling people of India and J&K Modi must compensate the loses state has been promised to be compensated on account of Indus Water Treaty. He also asked Govt. to explain what were the objections being raised by Govt. of Pakistan asking India to stop work on two power projects in the state. Er. Rasheed further alleged that while youth are being taken to task for minor issues in Kashmir, right wing students organization ABVP has defaced every public place in Jammu city by writing radical and objectionable slogans.
