Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri celebrated National Girl Child Day with great pomp & show. Prominent females having attained remarkable heights in their life were invited. Dr. Pritam Sandhu, General Secretary, Child welfare council advised the students to be self cenfident. She cautioned them not to move out alone during late night hours. Miss Kimmi Vaneet kaur Sethi, PCS, District Controller, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs revealed that after completion of her studies, she started her career as a lecturer. But due to her determination to be a PCS Officer, she kept on trying for it till she succeeded. Ms. Chhavi Kohli - a 15 year old player of Fencing said that she was rather feeling shy in talking to the students who were all older than her. Ms Kohli is a winner of 25 medals at National & International level. She fondly cited her feelings while receiving a prize from President of India. Ms. Nisha Bano, a famous actress & singer of Punjabi Films explained how her previous films 'Angrej', ‘Jatt Boys’ & 'Vaisakhi list' were appreciated by the public.
She added that her albums "Yaara Ve 2" & "Morni" were liked by the entire Punjab and other states. Ms. Bano thrilled the audience by singing a few lines of her next song.Speaking on the occasion, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that today the girls are leading in almost all spheres of life. Dr. G.D Bansal, Director General highlighted a number of academic cultural & sports achievements made by the girls of CGC jhanjeri. He recalled that the first placement of the first batch of this campus was captured by a girl Parvinder Kaur, in Microsoft - one of the most leading IT companies of the world. A girl ‘Jasmeen’ student of this campus has been selected by PTU as a best player of Table Tennis & now Riya Sharma of this college is going to represent Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (UT) during Republic Day parade in New Delhi on 26 Janaury 2017 as the best NCC Cadet of this region.
