Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today informed the house that Rs 8.15 crore have been released to JKPCC for construction of Government Degree College, Banihal. Replying to a question by Vikar Rasool Wani, the Minister said the college is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 11.67 crore. He said RS 8.15 crore has already been released for the construction works of the College and the remaining amount of Rs 3.52 crore will be released during the next financial year.Giving details about the construction work, the Minister said 50% slab work for the academic block has been completed while shuttering of remaining 50% steel work is in progress. He said the college shall be completed by December 2017 subject to availability of funds.Naeem Akhtar said currently the college is functioning from Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Banihal and due to limited availability of infrastructure at this makeshift campus, medical subjects have not been offered to the students so far.
Regarding enhancement of wages of IDF engaged in different colleges, the Education Minister said the department has increased remunerations in favor of local fund employees from Rs 125 to Rs 150 per day.Land identified for Mini Stadium at Reiyar Ich in district Budgam: Sunil KumarMinister of State for Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma today informed the house that land for construction of Mini Stadium has already been identified at Reiyar Ich in district Budgam.Replying to a question by Hakim Mohammad Yaseen, the Minister said that land measuring of 60 kanals 10 marlas at Reiyar Ich near Kralpathri has been identified for the construction of Mini Stadium."The matter has been accordingly taken up with District Development Commissioner Budgam for transfer of the said land in favour of Youth Services and Sports Department, which has not been formally handed over to this department as yet. As and when the land is formally transferred to the Youth Services & Sports department, the construction of Mini stadium at Kralpathri can be considered subject to the availability of funds," he said.
