Independent legislator and Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) Chairman Er Rasheed was on Saturday suspended from Jammu and Kashmir legislature for “creating disruptions” .Deputy Speaker Nazr Gurezi ordered the suspension of Rasheed for two days after he created disruption in the House.Earlier, Rasheed had taken a dig at the government over the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on a 86-year-old man and14-year-old boy Sahil Ahmad lodged in Kotbalwal Jail in Jammu. He protested during question hour while thronging the well of the house and asking government why aren't they releasing a 14 year old child and an 86 year old man who has been slapped under PSA."This government is only slapping PSA on innocent people. Is this Agenda of Alliance? Is that 14 years old a militant? What is Masrat Alam's and Sarjan Barkati's fault? The slogans of Sarjan were chanted by opposition in the House,” he asked.
Meanwhile, the government informed the House that it has directed the Superintendent Central Jail Kotbalwal to ascertain the age of downtown boy Sahil Ahmad. However his two days ban was lifted after PDP leader and MLA Chadoora Javed Mustafa requested the chair to reconsider the decision.Nazir Gurezi while revoking the ban said that Er Rashid has been sabotaging the house and all members by not letting them speak."I take back my decision but he should desist from such practices in future", he added.
