Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan, today convened a meeting to take stock of the functioning and activities of the Power Development Department (PDD).The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, PDD, Shehnaz Goni, Superintendent Engineers, Xens and other concerned.While receiving the first hand appraisal of the power supply in the Kashmir division, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that power supply has been almost restored fully across the valley and men and machinery is on job to rectify power fault, if any.The Div com was also appraised about various works being carried out to augment the power supply. He was informed that various measures are underway to improve the overall functioning of the Department.

Regarding the power cuts, it was given out that in comparison to last year’s cut of 63 hours per week; the Department has reduced the power cuts to 60 hours per week, while as there is maximum power cut of 2 and half at a time. The meeting was further informed that no power cut has occurred in Hospitals during the month.The Div Com resolved the issue of the land acquired for the transformer workshop on the spot and directed the concerned to start the work at an earliest. He also directed for ensuring timely replacement of the damaged transformers on priority.He stressed the Officers and Engineers to perform their duties with added zeal and passion so that better facilities are provided to the people. He asked for adopting concrete mechanism to ensure supply of power as per schedule.Meanwhile, the Div Com directed for taking stringent action against the power theft and asked for activating field functionaries to curb it.
