Minister of State for Power Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today said that 33/11 KV Receiving Station Sogam in district Kupwara will be upgraded from existing capacity of 6.3 MVA to 10 MVA to meet the local demand for electricity.Replying to a question by Qaiser Jamshed Lone, the Minister said the augmentation of the receiving station has been approved under PMDP.He said though the capacity of the receiving station is sufficient to meet the requirements of the consumers as per agreed load, "however, due to use of electricity by the consumers beyond their agreed load especially during the peak hours, the receiving station gets overloaded which sometimes results in power disruption," he added.Legislators Yasir Reshi and Sofi Yousuf raised supplementary questions and urged for improvement, upgradation of power infrastructure besides scheduled power supply in their constituencies.
