Besides Print Media candidates participating for assembly elections for constituency SAS Nagar, kharar, and Dera Bassi are also required to obtain pre approval from District Level Media Certification & Monitoring & Committee for the campaigning material being posted on electronic & social media. This was stated by election expenditure observer appointed by election commission for constituency Kharar, SAS Nagar & Dera Bassi while reviewing the functioning of Media Monitoring cell, call centre and complaint centre established at district administrative complex.During this, Election Expenditure observer reviewed the paid news and other election campaigning material being published on social media by the candidates. He said that participating candidates are required to mention their contact number, email id. & social media accounts while filing the nominations. He directed that close monitoring of social media is to be kept and it must be ensured that election pamphlets in print media and other campaigning material on social and electronic media are not to be posted without pre certification. Candidate / Party found violating the same will lead to the action as per direction of election commission.
Election observer directed to closely monitor the election expenses. As a candidate is not allowed to spend more than Rs. 28 lacs for elections. He also directed to closely monitor the meetings & rallies being conducted by the participating candidates. Election observer said that any citizen could intimate him regarding election expenses through whatsapp or through mobile no. 98727-56715 or could also email at exposvsas@ gmail.com. During this District Electoral Officer Sh. D. S. Mangat said that call centre and complaint monitoring cell established at district administrative complex has received 90 complaints, so far. Out of which 89 complaints stands disposed. He said that election related complaints could be lodged at toll free number of complaint centre i.e. 1800-180-2051 or through whatsapp at mobile number 94788-94788.
