Fed up with the Badal government’s failure to fulfill its promises to them, a group of 100 Punjab realtors and builders, led by their association president Kultar Singh Yogi, on Saturday met Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh and pledged their support to him.The majority of the realtors were traditional supporters of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) but said the Badal government’s failure to provide their beleaguered industry a breather by fulfilling its promise to regularize colonies had disenchanted them from the party.Complaining of being cheated and looted financially and otherwise by the Badal father-son duo, along with their associate Bikram Singh Majithia, they said they had decided to come out in support of Captain Amarinder in the hope of some positive change in their situation.Capt Amarinder Singh assured them that if the Congress came to power in the state he would make a comprehensive and simplified policy for regularization of unauthorized colonies and take measures necessary to boost the real estate business. It may be recalled that Captain Amarinder had, some time back, promised to meet the realtors, who had sought Congress support to free them from the shackles of the Badals and Majithia misrule.A delegation of Punjab realtors, under the banner of the Punjab Colonisers & Property Dealers Association (Regd), had earlier met Patiala MLA Maharani Preneet Kaur to urge her intervention in resolving their problems and promoting their welfare.
