DC Srinagar visits City areas, inspects ongoing snow clearance measures

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, DR Farooq Ahmad Lone today conducted extensive tour of Srinagar City along with officers of MED, PWD, PHE, SMC, PDD, UEED, to take on spot review of snow clearance arrangements.The DC visited various areas of the city including Nishat, Shalimar, Hazratbal, Soura, Habak, Eidgah, Panthachowk, Rawalpora, Hyderpora, Bemina, Khanyar, Nowshehra, Hawal, Nowhatta  and other areas.He was informed that snow from most of the main roads have been cleared by the Mechanical Engineering Department and about 80 percent inner links have been cleared by the R&B Department. He was further informed that Srinagar Municipal Corporation is on job to clear the lanes and by-lanes for the convenience of the pedestrians.Regarding the restoration of power supply, the DC was informed that 80 percent power supply has been restored and by evening electricity shall be restored in all parts of Srinagar City.The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of SMC, Fire & Emergency, UEED, to ensure dewatering at all water logged areas at an earliest. He also directed them to ensure snow clearance from all roads in the district. He stressed for close coordination between line Departments besides ensure all Control Rooms established are functional round the clock for the convenience of general public.
