Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today inaugurated ‘The Royale Pashmina’ shawls and Pherans exhibition at New Delhi.The exhibition is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Handloom Development Corporation in collaboration with Office of the Development Commissioner Handloom, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.In the 10-day exhibition, an exquisite collection of Pashmina shawls recreated from designs gathered from museums, art galleries and private collections with finest quality of fabric would be exhibited, along with Pherans, a traditional Kashmiri outfit being designed by National Institute of Fashion technology (NIFT), New Delhi.

The J&K State Handloom Development Corporation (POSHISH) also initiated a project with the objective of recreating the master pieces of older times.While addressing the gathering, the minister said the State Handloom Development Corporation has revived the traditional skill of hand spun, hand woven Pashmina by developing a wide range of shawls and Pherans in contemporary colours and designs. These Royale Craft of Mughals, Afghans, Sikhs and Dogras would attract a large number of art lovers and visitors, he added.Managing Director, JKSHDC Showkat Ahmad Zargar, in his address, said the people living in national capital have got an outstanding opportunity to buy the best and unique collection of Royale Pashmina and Pherans at their doorsteps which have been handcrafted by Kashmiri artisans.
