While wishing the people of Ladakh on the Losar festival, Minister of State for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjey today said that Government will soon setup hostel facilities for students of Ladakh region in Jammu.“Government is going to construct a tribal hostel here at Jammu and students of Ladakh will be accommodated in the hostel. In the meantime Government will try to setup a separate hostel for Ladakh boys studying in Jammu,” he said.
He was speaking during the interaction with students of Ladakh at the celebration event of Losar organized by the All Ladakh Student Association Jammu (ALSAJ) here.The event was attended by Mr Skapje Khamtak Rinpoche, President ALSAJ Sonam Paljor and other members of the association besides students of the Ladakh region.Extending warm greetings to the people of Ladakh and Kargil especially the Buddhist community on the auspicious occasion of Losar, the Minister hoped that the festival will prove harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the State and its people.
He highlighted the centuries old rich traditions of communal harmony, brotherhood and co-existence of different faiths and cultures symbolizing high values of humanity.Reacting to the lack of accommodation problems faced by Ladakh students in Jammu, Minister said that Govt has already setup a girl’s hostel which is running smoothly, and for boys hostel will be constructed soon.”He also ensured them that the genuine issues raised by the students will be addressed.The Minister also said that constitution of sports council at Leh has given flip to the sports activities in the region.Government is encouraging the participation of youth in different sports. Earlier youth from Ladakh have climbed to Mount Everest likewise we should participate and perform well in Ice hockey , Marathon and other sports activities as well, Mr Dorjey said.Earlier, the students enthralled the audience with different cultural programmes of the Leh.
