People in Mendhar, Thursday, staged massive demonstration protesting against the failure of state government and district and sub-divisional administrations on multiple fronts.Led by National Conference's MLA Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana, they took out a procession, shouting anti-government and anti-PDP slogans, in Mendhar town. They accused the PDP-BJP coalition government of “step-motherly” treatment with people of Mendhar. Later, NC's Jammu Provincial President, Devinder Singh Rana also reached Mendhar and joined the protestors.Addressing the gathering, Javed Rana said the present dispensation has failed on all fronts and made state institutions dysfunctional. He alleged huge irregularities and unending delays in execution of crucial development projects under PMGSY, NABARD, PHE schemes and other developmental schemes. "Projects started in 2008 are shown to be completed financially but on ground a criminal conspiracy of willful misappropriation galore", he charged and said that all mechanisms of accountability gave been rendered ineffective.

Both the NC leaders took on the government for what they called it's abject failure to address power crisis and dwindling Public Health Engineering in Pir Panjal region. There is a drought like situation in Mendhar and other parts of Pir Panjal region, they said and added that people don't have enough drinking water. Water supply schemes sanctioned decades back are non-existent. Tanker service is unknown to people of Mendhar, MLA Mendhar said while demanding that state government declare Mendhar and parts of Pir Panjal region as drought hit areas.Demanding justice and security for shelling victims in Poonch, MLA Mendhar also condemned the district administration for not preparing DPR for construction of pukka bunkers for LoC residents for which he has committed 20% CDF in convergence with MGNREGA. He said despite repeated assurances by functionaries at highest level in the union and state governments permanent rehabilitation of LoC villagers continues to remain a distant dream. Besides, Rana also pointed out unequal distribution of resources under MGNREGA and called for allocation of funds to each panchayat strictly according to prescribed criteria. The National Conference leaders also demanded justice in relief distribution to several left out families of PoJK refugees in Poonch.National Conference also demanded that the government start filling thousands of vacancies in various government departments to help tackle growing issue of unemployment in the state.Former legislator, Ch. Rahim Dad, President Sarpanchs Association Mendhar, Shokat Choudhary, Provincial Secretary YNC Jammu, Zishan Rana, Sarpanchs, Panchs beside people in large numbers participated in the protest.
