Sitting MLAs not meeting the winnability criteria will be dropped from the Congress list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh said here on Wednesday, disclosing that the party had finalized another set of 20-21 names in the allocation of tickets.Responding to questions from a group of select mediapersons, Captain Amarinder said he would be meeting Navjot Singh Sidhu soon to work out the modalities of his joining the party. Sidhu met Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday since he had not had a meeting with him on his joining earlier, said Captain Amarinder, adding that the next steps on Sidhu’s joining would be decided soon.Reiterating that winnability would be the only criteria in nominating the remaining candidates for the party in the upcoming Assembly polls, Captain Amarinder made it clear that no compromise would be allowed on this count. On the possibility of Navjot Singh Sidhu contesting the Assembly polls from Amritsar, Captain Amarinder said it was up to the Sidhu couple to decide which of them would be contesting on Congress ticket. The one-family-one-ticket norm will be strictly adhered to in all cases, said Captain Amarinder, ruling out the possibility of both Navjot Sidhu and his wife getting party tickets for the Assembly election.
