Former Indian union minister Kamal Morarka Tuesday visited Hurriyat leader and DFP chairman Shabir Shah at Rajbagh at police station, where the latter is under custody from last over five months.According to DFP spokesperson in a statement issued to KNS, Shah made it clear to Morarka that people of Jammu Kashmir are not struggling to change the political dispensations of the state but for the achievement of that right of which the then Indian leaders have promised and acknowledged.During the meeting, he said, Morarka termed the prevailing situation in Valley as gruesome and admitted the need for finding a justified solution to the vexed issue.Shah apprised Kamal Morarka of the use of worst form of oppression against the people of Kashmir by those harbouring a particular ideological mindset.“He gave them account of the victims of pellet firing and those who were maimed and lost their eyes. Even if properties worth billions are destroyed in India during some protest, not even lathi is used against the dissenters but in Jammu Kashmir, the dissent is silenced by bullets and pellets; people are butchered mercilessly. Those weapons are used which are banned by the world community," Shah, according to the press handout of DFP issued to KNS, told Morarka. The DFP chairman told Morarka that during the last five months, “105 people” were killed, hundreds maimed and blinded by pellet guns, and thousands injured.Shah told Kamal that if India wanted to progress, it has to resolve the long-standing dispute of Kashmir as per the UN resolutions or through trilateral talks."India's stubbornness (in resolving the Kashmir issue) is the reason for political uncertainty in the South Asian region. Similarly, it can play a great role towards establishing peace in the region," he said.Shah expressed hope that the intellectual class of India spreads the message across the country that humanity is dying in Kashmir.
