For paying tributes to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on the occasion of Friday following his birth anniversary (Milad) and for highlighting the importance of education imparted by the holy Prophet (SAW) in the present day world, a ‘Majlis-e-Rehmatul Alameen’ was organised at Jamia Masjid Srinagar, which was presided over by Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar President and All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq.Despite placing barricades and restrictions along all routes leading towards Jamia Masjid Srinagar, a large number of devotees participated in the Majlis. Ulemas and religious scholars including Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari, Peer Saifullah who attended the Majlis on behalf of Syed Ali Geelani, because of his continuous house arrest, Sheikh Abdul Rashid representative of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Moulana M S Rehman Shams and Moulvi Muhammad Yaseen spoke on the occasion. In his presidential address, Mirwaiz said the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was an example for everyone for all times and added that Muslims in Islamic countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen, and in Jammu Kashmir were battling and facing crisis while people were being killed mercilessly because crores of Muslims living in the Islamic world had departed from following the true path shown by the holy Prophet (SAW).He said until Muslims sit together and collectively solve their internal problems, not only would they continue to remain caught in the quagmire of these problems but anti-Islamic forces would continue to create discord among Muslims while pitching them against one another.

The APHC Chairman said Muslims would command respect only when they would follow the true path shown by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in every respect and make him their ideal in every sense.Terming the selfless sacrifices of the people of Jammu Kashmir, particularly the youth, during the ongoing resistance movement, as an example of how much people crave for their right to self determination, he said Kashmiris had been associated with this movement since 1931 and now the fifth generation of Kashmiris has got connected with the movement. The Mirwaiz said for taking the ongoing resistance movement forward, people should work toward a long-term goal and prepare themselves for a long-term struggle and promised that the unified resistance leadership before taking any decision would first take every segment of the society into confidence and then only come up with an annual protest programme which would send a message not only to the entire world but also take Kashmiris near their ultimate goal of the exercise of right to self determination. He said it is the responsibility of the entire Kashmiri nation to safeguard the sacrifices of its martyrs and people by following the protest programmes given by the unified resistance leadership in letter and spirit.

The APHC Chairman said the ruling class tried to sabotage this religious programme by placing restrictions and erecting barricades along all roads leading towards Jamia Masjid Srinagar and by stopping the veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik and thousands of people from participating in this programme and added that the government should have realized that the will and resolve of Kashmiris could not be broken with these dictatorial tactics in the past nor would it be done in future as people were determined to take their struggle to its logical conclusion. He said Government of India and its local collaborators by unleashing a reign of terror on the people were pushing Kashmiri youth toward violence and indulging in gruesome human rights violations using inhuman, immoral and undemocratic tactics and warned New Delhi that the more force it would use to muzzle the voice of Kashmiris, the more passionate would Kashmiris be for their right to self determination.Amid ‘Hum Kya Chahtey Azadi’ (We want freedom), ‘Jis Kashmir Ko Khoon Sey Seeche, Woh Kashmir Hamara Hai’ (The Kashmir that is soaked with our blood is ours) slogans, the Mirwaiz said the resistance leadership was committed towards Kashmir cause and the people would continue to follow the programmes given by them in letter and spirit.

On the occasion, senior Hurriyat leader, Moulana Abbas Ansari while throwing light on the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said the birth of the holy Prophet (SAW) had brought light into a dark world. On the occasion, Peer Saifullah said following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and adopting his Sunnah was the best way for living a pious life and condemned the government for placing Syed Ali Geelani under continued house arrest.Sheikh Abdul Rashid lauded the Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid for organizing the Seerat conference and said that through this conference the message should go to entire Kashmir and Muslim Ummah that Muslims need to adopt the way of life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in letter and spirit. After the Majlis-e-Milad was over, the Mirwaiz led a massive protest demonstration against the arrests of youth and resistance leaders and continued human rights violations in Kashmir saying such tactics would not lead government anywhere as people had decided not to rest till taking the resistance movement to its logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, an APHC spokesman said senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza led a Hurriyat delegation to the residence of the martyred youth Basit Rasool Dar to pay tributes to the martyr at this occasion and the Mirwaiz expressed sympathy and solidarity over phone with his parents and said his sacrifice and the sacrifices of thousands of other martyrs would not go waste and take Kashmir issue to its logical conclusion. The spokesman also denounced the government for the continued house arrest of APHC Media Adviser Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam and Engineer Hilal Ahmad War.
