Incumbent MLA Langate Er Rasheed has sought immediate arrest of army officers involved in Khalid Muzaffar Wani’s “cold blooded murder” who was killed last year in Wailoo area of Islamabad district. Rasheed said, “Govt does not provide any ex-gratia or any other compensation to the family of deceased militants but since the administration has sanctioned ex-gratia relief in favor of family of Khalid Muzaffar, so it is proven beyond doubt that he was innocent citizen and army killed him only for the reason that he was Burhan’s brother.”Rasheed said that before sanctioning the ex-gratia the security agencies do carryout minute investigations and as such army personnel involved in the operation should be immediately booked for “murdering the innocent” Khalid Muzaffar. “Though unnoticed but not hidden is the fact that family members of every militant have been jailed, humiliated, tortured and threatened right from 1989 and nowadays nobody takes notice of this grave injustice done to families of militants.”He said, their houses are often burned and most of them have been forced to take asylum in areas other than their native places.Rasheed termed the rejecting of ex-gratia by Khalid’s family as a “slap” on Mehbooba Mufti’s government and said that she and all other “extension wings” of New Delhi need to realize that they cannot always fix the cost of precious innocent lives for just a few lac rupees and sooner or later the “merchants of death” will have to be accountable for all these “inhuman killings”.
