Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Saturday said that hundreds of people led by representatives of Joint resistance leadership took out a protest rally from Kokerbazar on the eve of international human rights day. Pertinently, the united resistance leadership had called for UN Chalo march against ‘gross human rights violations’ in Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesman in a statement issued to KNS said that activists and leaders of Hurriyat (G) and JKLF assembled at Kokerbazar and marched towards United Nations office at Sonwar but this rally was stopped by police and forces near Lal Chowk. The spokesman said that wearing dark glasses and black bands as a mark of protest against mass blinding, killings, spree of arrests and other human rights violations in Kashmir, the participants of the rally raised slogans in favor of freedom and against oppression unleashed by Indian state against the people of Kashmir.“Police and forces in large numbers who had already cordoned the whole area, stopped the participants of the protest rally and after using brutal force and showering abuses on the participants dispersed the rally and arrested many leaders and activists including sheikh Abdul Rashid, Umer Adil, Muhammad Irfan, Ali Muhammad Butt, Ali Muhammad Mir, Nazir Ahmad Hajam and Muhammad Altaf Raina etc.” He said that before being arrested, resistance leaders leading this rally while talking to the media person said that today’s UN March was being organized to highlight and protest the gross human rights abuses done by Indian forces in Jammu Kashmir.

Leaders said that 10th December has been marked as international human rights day which includes the right to self determination and international community including India are signatory to this covenant. They said that Kashmiris for asking their right of determination are being brutalized by Indian state from last 70 years and if one only takes into account the ongoing oppression in Kashmir during which till date Indians have killed about hundred innocents by bullets and pellets, injured more than twenty thousand of our young and old have and snatched eye sight of more than one thousand innocent boys and girls.Leaders said that today business relations and economic aspirations have taken over human rights and values. “Even during large scales wars blinding people that too at such large scale have never been witnessed in past but Indian brutality has touched new heights of oppression through its pellet terrorism,” spokesman quoting leader added. They said that these human rights violations and mass blinding should have been a serious matter if this was done by some other country and the whole world would have been standing against it, but international community especially the big powers eying big Indian market and economic ties with India have maintained criminal silence on theses human rights violations. Leaders said that this criminal behavior of international community is endangering the peace and stability of the whole world and pushing oppressed nations and people to the wall and hence promoting violence.
