To review the functioning of Power Development Department (PDD), a meeting of Estimates Committee was held here today under the chairmanship of Member Legislative Assembly, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.Legislators, M Y Tarigami, Mubarak Gul, G M Saroori, Ishfaq Ahmed Sheikh, Neelam Langeh and Surinder Mohan Ambardar were present in the meeting.After threadbare discussion on various issues, the Committee directed the concerned authorities to supply adequate power supply to the people of the state so that they do not face any difficulty for the want of electricity. The Committee also stressed for replacement of old, wooden poles and wires and maintenance of street lights.Committee also exhorted upon the concerned authorities for streamlining the purchase mechanism to procure quality material. Directions were issued for timely installation of poles and transformers besides regularization of illegal connections to avoid unscheduled cuts.Commissioner Secretary PDD, Dheeraj Gupta and senior officers of PDD and Legislative Assembly were also present in the meeting.
