The Shiromani Akali Dal today got shot in the arm former minister Harnek Singh Gharuan today joined Shiromani Akali Dal along with their supporters in the presence of party President and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Secretary General Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Senior Vice President  Tota Singh and Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra and party treasurer N.K. Sharma.Harnek singh Gharuan, who was a minister in the Harcharan Singh Brar led Congress government has a strong hold in the Kharar and Mohali areas of Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency.

Welcoming Mr. Gharuan and his supporters in the party folds, Mr. Badal said that people were joining Shiromani Akali Dal as its leaders were more committed and easily approachable than any other party. He assured Mr. Gharuan that party would give him due respect and place in the party. He said that induction of Mr. Gharuan and his supporters in the party would strengthen the party base.Later interacting with media, Mr. Badal said that  5-6 more sitting MLAs of Congress party were all set to join Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that the people from Congress were joining Shiromani Akali Dal as they were fed up of anti nation and anti people policies of their party leaders. He said that Congress party was on the verge of extinction and this budget would be their farewell budget.

Announcing his decision to join Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr. Harnek Singh Gharuan said that he was deeply impressed by the initiatives like Progressive Punjab Industrial and Agricultural summits taken by SAD-BJP government to ensure the overall development of the state. He said that the areas of Mohali and Kharar had started witnessing the impact of industrial summit and he was confident that Sukhbir’s initiative would bring this area on the world map. He said that he took lot of time to take feedback from his supporters before joining and now they were all set to ensure record victory of party Candidate from Anandpur sahib in ensuing Lok Sabha election.
